Just had Ommegang's Three Philosophers.

Kinda disappointed, not sure if I got a bad bottle or what. Tons of yeast/sediment, really cloudy appearance, pretty much only got alcohol taste and not much else.

Nøgne ø Imperial Stout. This stuff is awesome. Probably one of my favorite RISs I have tried, not too syrupy or heavy on the alcohol (although it's hiding there) but still quite dark with nice espresso/chocolate flavors.

INSTANT UPDATE: This stuff rocks even harder when it warms a bit; I probably poured it too cold initially (recommended at 50). Highly recommended.

Just had an 8 wired "Hopwired" to cheer myself up after today's hospital tests.
I am now banned from anything more than "Light exercise".
Sh*tburgers. :(
Eh?? Lame.

Last night:

New Belgium Lips of Faith Vrienden (Pretty interesting brew...even the wife liked it...and at 8+% I liked her likin' it...)
Full Sail Black Gold Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout (They released this beer about a year ago sans barrel aging and it was good...but now, holy blind bear jesus is it great.)

^^Damn that sounds good.

I've only seen the Bitter American and the IPA up here in the PNW...

I haven't been to my local specialty shop in awhile...hmmmm...
it apparently JUST came out. It's absolutely spectacular if you like Belgian Strong ales. I'm gonna try to get a case of it.

They make a black IPA that's excellent as well.

Last night I had Green flash Hop head red, Tuatara APA, Balast point Wahoo wheaat beer, Rogue Morimoto and semi local micro brewery Liberty brewings first time ever on tap West coast blond which was awesome.

All bar takings from 6 until midnight going to the red cross christchurch fund.
I think I put about $180 over the bar myself.... Was a big night!
On the plus side the bar owner is looking keen to start stocking my beers! :-D

Had a taste of two homebrews this eve:

A chocolaty stout with some brown sugar added...interesting...but nothing to write home about.

&

A blackberry lambic-style clone that was quite tasty. Just a hint of berry and a nice easy finish. (this one was not done with open fermentation...)

Supawaka NZPA (homebrew)
SuperWaka cos I used 10grm per liter of hops for the dry hopping in the fermenter (50/50 mix of SUPER alpha and RiWAKA hops).

Bottled 2 and a bit weeks ago and starting to really get good!
First homebrew that I've been really proud of. :D
