From the iteration a few years back. Bought years ago on sale. They ought to last a loooooong time here. Two apare stainless rings, in an Enduro bearing threaded BB setup.

About 3 years on the mtb, on the commuter now for 2 or 3.
Aren't they just normal M980 series cranks?

Yep. Just with a different BB and ring. Nothing big, but certainly nice, and will last a long time in this application.
Bought a used set that now lives 1x on my short travel trail bike (some would call it down country). Although I hit them frequently they survived so far. Before the pandemic these cranks were available in the used market quite cheap, now not so much anymore. :disgust:

Zeb setup ride. Pedal/play/session/lather/rinse/repeat. No good pics resulted. On bike testing/tweaking lab.

AKA: this is why we can't have nice things.

Care to offer initial thoughts, as compared to the old fork?
I can, but they are extremely limited and should be taken with large grains of salt. More/longer rides to come.

Just shy of seven miles stop and go pedal and play, maybe just barely 1k of descent over the whole thing. All short and steep punchy up/down stuff, slow speed tech mixed little bits of fast stuff. Lots' of rocks, not much flow. The stuff that doesn't have the rocks is all flat. But...it has a bunch of chunky bits, easily session-able drops and rolls that make it good for dialing stuff in a bit. More ride time as our weather and mud season permits. Lifts opening in a few weeks. That describes a lot of my local riding. Not a lot of long descending to be had. All up/down/up/down. Longest without a lot of drive time to get to it, or lifts is only about 500. A couple places I have in mind for next week are more conducive to pedal up/bomb down laps - didn't have time for that yesterday or today though.

This bike was built with taking to the lifts and road trips in mind. Pedal local stuff without too much pain, throw on the burly DH tired spare wheelset and go to the lifts without beating up on my 5" trailbike.

Old fork: First gen non-Boost Yari 29" 160mm RC with updated air spring (to 180mm) bits and Charger 2.1damper upgrade. Compared to the 150mm Pike on my little bike, it felt...odd. Similar damping and airspring behavior, but I think swapping to the longer spring made it feel a bit noodly, even at my size. I dunno.

The Zeb has negated that feeling entirely. Very, very stout chassis. Ended up with one token, 6 click of LSC from fully open, 60psi. Geared up on the bike about 165#.

Decided to bite the bullet and get the boys some better bikes. Proper shifters and disc brakes. Used of course, but wow what a change in attitude. Well worth it so far

Found an old trail. Been riding here since I was 15 and never saw until now. Don't really go to this little spot of the forest very often..

Someone has been working on the dirt jumps..

what did you buy?
A 24” Opus with Shimano hydraulic brakes, light-ish coil fork, Zee shifter, XTR RD (9sp), DHF up front and a carbon bar! The crankset is also set up with a granny ring which might come in handy for longer climbs/placebo effect.

The 20” is a Norco Charger with an air fork, shimano hydros with an 8 speed tranny. No grip shift! They guy stripped it raw so it doesn’t look as beaten up as kids bikes often do. The headset is a bit messed up but I seem to have rehabbed it to a point where it runs pretty smoothly. I think it might be missing a part as the top seems to have NO sealing mechanism whatsoever. It’s a caged bearing headset and it tumbled apart when I made my attempt to improve it.

Trails are good and dry. Trillium starting to bloom. Anyone know what the yellow one is? Falcon was out this morning too.
