Wow!
Before you continue any further with your dumbfuck American routine. Do yourself a favour Westy and at least take the time to find out what a "pavement" actually is over here.
You're clearly a lost cause regarding the history of language.

Have a read, might do you some good.

No. My dear boy. Latin. Like a lot of English and French words. I wasn't talking about the word though.
Your fuckery isnt getting any less dumb.

The very first pavement ever built was in Scotland. Some of the first pavements built here are still in use today just a few miles from here in Edinburgh.
Wasn’t it macadam at first? (In England?)

at the rate things are going there's not gonna be any wilderness left to fight over
For the love of God don't mention the word chip-seal. I am not sure if the world is capable of absorbing Gary's pointless semantic wrath from the regional term usage of an actual Scottish invention. And by god they should be proud of the world's shittiest paved surface.

Yeah a "Pavement" by (English) definition is ALWAYS "off road" that was my fucking point!

So by the looks of it, everyone was right!

Ahh, right, the 'Pavé'.
Language is not static. What it once meant might not be what it means to most people now.
not just that, but the same words can legitimately have different meanings in different parts of the world. there's a whole (cottage) industry on YT dedicated to pointing out that pants, randy, fanny, bum (amongst others) mean different things in the US vs the UK.... Here's just one
that last one was new to me. kinda funny

one not mentioned in there, that a neighbour of mine pointed out to me is 'cottaging'. here in Canuckistan, it means going to ones cottage. Not so in the UK....

As with most things on PB, the comments are moar phun. GCN+ is def not getting my money next year. Neither is my main VPN peeps. You think GCN+ is worthless. Holy cow VPN douche bags. I didn't watch any of the worlds and guess what? I didn't miss it.

'Office Space' Movie:

Bob: I see you've been missing a lot of work lately, Peter
Peter: Can't say I've been missing it, Bob

I only subbed to GCN+ for one month to cover the first 3 WCs... the App worked flawlessly on my TV and phone but the website version wouldn't even accept my log-in (exact same details) meaning I couldn't watch any of their content via PC/Laptop. Emails back and forward to them for weeks and nothing was ever resolved. Eventually I was offered an another month for free which I still couldn't actually log-in to. But this was after VdS anyway so there would have been no live content I'd have wanted to watch anyway. Gotta admit I'm still unsure as to whether I'm going to bother subscribing again for the remainder of the races. Especially after the abysmal World Champs commentary (Rik and Needles were pretty bad but the BBC was next level terrible) I'm honestly beginning to lose interest in it now too and I've only missed watching a couple of DH World Cup live shows since about 1996 (eurosport).

Is the AlCan paved?

A: Kind of?

there are small stretches a few hundred meters long on the CAN side that are gravel, but the extended chip-n-seal is probably the worst part. Also, i would rename it “the frost heave highway”.

I drove up and down that highway like 10 times in its entirety and I can say that it’s a multi-surface road indeed. Gravel, chip-seal, asphalt. Still better quality than the Stewart-Cassiar.

I also drove up the Dempster « highway » twice with a 13-inch-tired ‘92 Corolla and a ‘99 Civic. It must be paved since it’s a « highway », but is it?

A: Nope. Gravel with potholes.

Short version: If you are going to call it a “highway”, there should be standards.

Holly fucking speculation and Holly fucking "lets throw out random data". I don't even get what their point is there but YT channel growth or decline may have literally nothing to do with more or less people watching it on GCN/Eurosport vs RB.

Also not comparing Y2Y data on race videos and just going "number going down" is dumb. You will get fewer views in the months more people on average go on holiday.

Re. BBC Coverage - weirdly I found it better than the GCN coverage. The commenators seemed to at least be interested.

So, one thing the PB thing's comments reminded me about was the lack of Fantasy DH. And I got to thinking, the good thing about Fantasy for non-superfans like me is that you get invested and care about the results of racers that aren't winners/podiums. I feel like last year, I had a much better sense of how the overall season of a lot of the 10-20th place riders was going than I do this year.

This applies like 4x to Enduro, which has always had shitty coverage. I really have no fucking clue who's leading overall for that this year. Last year I probably could have told you top 5 at least.

Speaking of Pinkbike and what'S wrong... Listening to the Pinkbike podcast this week, they were bitching about people wondering where Mike Levy was and asking every day. It's been radio silence from them since many months and people are wondering if he's still working there or not.

I understand that he might need some time off and it's entirely personal/his private life, but when they see people asking every day "where's Levy", I think that it would have been more appropriate and respectful to him from Pinkbike to say "He's taking some time off, we'll keep you posted when he's back. Please respect his private life." or something like that, instead of having people speculating and asking every day.

They say that they don't run a super tight ship and they're not super well organized, but I thought it was a bit shitty to say that their fans should shut up about this when they have never adressed the issue anywhere. Mike Levy might be the most well known name in MTB outside of the racers and legends, so that's normal to be wondering where he is when he disappears suddenly like that and nobody gives updates or says anything. It's almost like they intentionally kept this thing blurry and after like 6 months they say "hey people you shoudl respect his private life, he needed some time off". Well just say it politely and nobody will ask! It's one thing to be unorganized, but condeming the fans for Pnkbike's lack of judgment seems wrong to me. My 0.02$.

I think that goes for all of the comments about why Pinkbike wasn't putting out anything about Alicia's accident and recovery. I get the medical privacy etc concerns, but a simple message saying that they appreciate everyone's concern would have gone a long way towards eliminating the conspiracy theories that seemed to pop up.

As a side note, I listened to that same podcast (don't normally listen to the Pinkbike podcasts unless there's something that specifically interests me) and I enjoyed the conversation overall.

think they must just have an anylitics super nerd in the office... We all go there but Pinkbike articles went full on quantity over quality years ago.
I'd have assumed an analytics super nerd would be good at analytics.

Re. PB podcast - aren't you guys annoyed by how hard they tow the pro industry line? I know conspiracy nuts on the other side are bad but the general vibe I get whenever they argue with what people feel is one of disconnect from an average rider who doesn't get bro deals on top of the line bikes. Or is ther demo now 40 year old mid level managers?

they have stated exactly that (and mike has also ducked in to post similar sentiments), but it's been within comment threads, rather than a formal announcement.

I thought there was a news release saying he was going to be editor at another one of Outside's properties? Like a gravel-focused publication. Or was that an April fools joke?

Unpopular opinion: I can't stand the "four assholes babbling over a cup of coffee" format. Give me a well recorded interview or a properly written piece. Having to skim over 45 minutes of yadda yadda to extract maybe 5 minutes of relevant content is unbearable.

Discovery doing Discovery things. They’re really trying to find ways to thin the field. Stolen from Vitals forum via Jack Reading.

THE NEW RULE CHANGE FOR WORLD CUPS MEANING RIDERS DON'T SCORE POINTS IN SEMI
FINALS, IS TOTALLY INSANE. RIDERS FINISHING 31-60TH GET
NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT.
BEST EXAMPLE IS @ADBRAYTON WHO IS 55TH IN THE WORLD CUP OVERALL WITH 47 POINTS. BUT THESE POINTS APPARENTLY DON'T
COUNT TOWARDS THE 40 REQUIREMENT, SO HE CAN'T
RACE... WHAT A TOTAL JOKE!!
