I just wish these guys would start MAKING opportunities happen in fights so they can finish. It's starting to get old with all of the fighters that don't even try to finish. They just wait around, then take a guy down at the end of the round to get points. Blah. I wish they'd all fight like BJ, Jon Jones, Maia, Diaz bros, Aldo, etc. Those are the guys that keep people watching.
It won't take long. Machida is supposed to fight Couture and I have a feeling Randy will end his career with another loss. I would just like to see more than 2 people take Silva past the second round. Damn, someone call Tanya Harding, I think she still lives in Gresham

Now this I agree with, a lot of guys clearly are afraid to gamble because they are afraid of getting caught in a mistake, so they fight conservative. I don't like it anymore than you do, I just have a little more patience for it.

The list of guys you wish everyone would fight like I am totally on board with, those guys are a lot of fun to watch.

It may be boring, but I think Randy has a change to win this fight. He's far more powerful than Machida, and if he can get his hands on the slippery bastard then he might be able to control him.

If he beats Machida does it put him in contention? That'd be something to go out on top like that.

More powerful? I don't think so.

Machida has a very deliberate style, but he is a good striker.

I think style vs age is always the determiner.

Not debating Machida's striking ability... I think he's one of the best, most precise strikers in the game... possibly second to Silva.

I'm not talking about punching power... just the ability to manhandle and push your opponent around. I think Randy will have an edge in that department. If he can avoid getting caught then I think he could have a chance at winning... I don't think he'll be able to push Machida against the cage like he does with a lot of guys... Machida tends circle away from getting cornered very effectively. Randy will need to take him down and control him.

When was his last big win before this fight?

Seems like a month ago everyone was like Fedor the great... and now that he got beat they are all saying he's over the hill, etc, etc.
His last big wins were in Pride. As far as I can tell the debate over Fedor the Gread vs Fedor the Fight Dodger has been raging ever since he declined to sign with the UFC.

As much as I would like to see Randy beat him, I don't see it happening. Last time stats were talked about, Machida was second only to Silva on hit percentage and first in avoiding strikes (Silva was second). His laid back stance and quickness will make it tough to dirty box and doesn't he have a black belt in BJJ now, too?

I don't see Machida letting Randy lay and pray without getting caught. But I didn't think Rua would beat Machida, either.

Rua is on a different level than ol' Randy (I think he is one of the most underestimated fighters out there), these days any way.
Considering Rua is the champ, I don't think he is all that underestimated at this point. But Machida wasn't ready for that level of beating, either.

This might be a bad analogy, but the "secret" to beating Liddell was to take him to the ground, not so easy to do to the king of sprawl.

I don't Randy is up to taking down Machida either, but we will have to see.

Safe money is on Machida winning by decision... by countering and running laps around the ring to avoid Randy's takedowns.

All I'm saying is that Couture has a chance. If he can grab a hold of him, he should be able to gain the upper hand.

His last big win was in PRIDE. But if Fedor didn't sign with Strikeforce, there pretty much wouldn't be another fight organization other than the UFC. People can thank Fedor for not signing the UFC contracts since he helped expand the sport a little bit. If it weren't for him and his drawing power, a lot of good fighters wouldn't have careers. Nick Diaz, Scott Smith, Paul Daley, the HW's in the tournament (other than Overeem and a few others), etc.

Rogan was saying that Machida also practiced in Sumo, that's why he's hard to grab and he's good at knocking people off balance. Machida has the tools, Randy has the brain. Randy wins because he knows what his opponents suck at. He's not a dumb fighter by any means. I still think his best fight in years was against Big Nog. That fight was everywhere, not just against the fence.

I can't believe that randy still fights at his age, he is one tough mother.

I would like to see him win, only because I really like him. But if I had a gun to my head I'd probably say machida.

A few years ago the answer would be easy, Randy wins, but even The Natural has to get old one day.

Just read the reviews of the fights on Saturday night...(didn't get to watch this time...and it sounds like I didn't miss much.)

As per the usual, it sounds like Bisping is still a c*nt. And another freakin' draw?!? This time from Jon "Wet Blanket" Fitch no less...Sounds like the judges screwed up another one in the Fukuda-Ring fight too....surprise surprise.

The draw was a bit of a surprise.

Bisping's massive knee to the head while the other dude was on the ground just might have helped him win the fight. Maybe...

The knee was definitly illegal and definitly on purpose.
That said, Bisping looked like he would have won anyway...
Normally I dont like it when fighters pull **** like that, but given the stuff that Rivera pulled before the fight I cant say that I blame Bisping.

People bashed on Brock for making UFC look like WWF, Rivera was a lot worse with what he did.

WHAT!!! That is 100% intentional.... and Bisbing WON that fight?

He shoulda been DQ'd right there.
Or if I were Rivera, I'd "not get up" after that knee. Stick it to the prick-Brit:thumb: I want Bisbing to get KTFO (like Hendo did to him) in EVERY fight. Kinda like what is happening to Andrei Arlovski ;)

Yeah,i'll find out the next time i fly with those TSA patdowns!
I love people who have no clue about grappling. On any day I'd rather face off a very good striker over very good grapler. Being unconscious is much better than having a broken limb.
Though I agree some wrestling is boring but compared to the strategy for Couture, Griffin etc. from 2 years ago it has evolved and it is much more entertaining.
Though I think you need to talk to one of the grapplers I know. I've seen what 3rd bjj in this country can do to a bunch of chavs.

In the review I read, it said that the doctor "deferred" to Rivera's choice to continue.

Rivera put up a couple vids on youtoob about how lame Bisping was and insulted his heritage among other things. Apparently his kids were getting hassled as well because of that chump. Not illegal knee to the face worthy, but I'm not British....or too much of a c*nt, so I'm not qualified I suppose...

I missed the southpark one but the rest seemed pretty funny. It wasn't really any offensive and they guy he had pretending to be bisping was awesome. That was the best trash talk I remember. Also it's good someone finally showed bisping how to do it properly.

Im not a fan of trash talk, in some cases i understand the animosity but some people take it too far. Sonnen is another fighter that comes to mind...

I trained JJ, BJJ and kickboxing and I was allways taught to show respect.
My trainer fought in early the original UFC and has one world and five euro titles on his name, never have i heard him talk trash about anyone...
Maybe i just need to accept the fact that the world of martial arts is changing with MMA going mainstream but Im not liking this part of these developments.

To each his own I guess.

I agree... as far as trash talk goes that was pretty creative (just watched it). I cant stand that guy anyways, so it's good to see someone calling him on being a douche.

*shrug*

I think I'd have a more easily predictable fight with Feijao/Hendo on Saturday...(Hendo via right hand....)

Seriously, I have no clue. Kampmann's ground game doesn't suck (he gassed Shields on the way to a crappy decision...) and Sanchez is very well-conditioned....Should be interesting! (I hope...)

Ok, I enjoy watching Bully Beatdown, although it is about as fake as it comes (most of the bullies are stuntmen).

But I couldn't believe the one I'm watching tonight: a big tubbo is going to fight Andrei Arlovski, and he is talking sh*t to him before the fight!

Interesting fights this eve....

Most notably how the judges completely disregarded Kampmann and how he turned Sanchez into a dirty wad of blood and debris.

Seriously...get rid of judging.

Here's how we do it from now on:

- 3 five minute rounds.
- No one unconscious, tko'd, submitted ....
- 4th round...
- 4th round rules stipulate: No time limit. KO, TKO, submission. Period. End of story.

Clearly, no matter how much it is stressed by fans, the organization (UFC I'm looking at you), whatever....it is not enough to actually motivate a finish. So you get 15 minutes to waft your ass around for the cameras (Sanchez and Kampmann fought admirably with much loss of blood and copious amounts of facial trauma) but if you don't finish a fight within those 15 precious minutes...f*ck you. Get it on till it is. I'm done with these bullsh*t judges. Kampmann is a class act. Sanchez can change his nickname all he wants (Nightmare --> Dream???? WTF??!!??), it is still "douchebag" as far as I'm concerned.

Kampmann should have won? I was watching the fight out of corner of my eye, but it looked like Sanchez was laying it on him.

But I couldn't tell who was who. One of them has to wear a wig next time.

Nope. That's the problem with the judges probably too - they don't use monitors and they see someone swinging wildly and the technical striker retreating and countering accuratly. Who gets the round? The wild man that misses 90% of his strikes.
It's obvious in a wrestler vs striker fight that the wrestler can go much more agressive because a % of shots are insta ko's while takedowns mean much more. This is why I really don't really want to watch fights anymore.
