Anybody? This thing has been bomproof for the two years I've been riding it, and it still works fine, but feels a little 'sticky' going up and down, as if the bearing surfaces could do with a clean and some lube. Can't find any instructions anywhere as to how to go about taking it apart. If no...
Does anyone make one that mounts to the direct mount front derailleur mount rather than the ISCG tabs? Seems like a no-brainer to me...
I don't need a bashguard. Just one of the small guides ala One-Up etc.
So, as if the proliferation of new and pointless standards that force retailers to stock an obscene number of permutations of each product in order to compete isn't enough, now there's this...
What DH rims are people fond of these days? Following my previous thread trying to find an equivalent, my venerable Alex Supra-D has officially been discontinued.
Looking for something middle-of-the-road on the price-weight-strength triangle. Not interested in anything carbon as this is going...
A while ago someone on here suggested that Alex Supra D rims were sold as something else under a different brand (Spank maybe?). I've had a look around but can't see what it might have been. The Supra D is far and away my go to rim on the DH bike for a mix of low(ish) weight, durable, decent...
Am I being a jerk? My cousin is getting married this year. We've never been close. Nothing against her or her family, but my mum fell out with her entire family when I was young, with the result that I just never saw them that often. I now live on a different continent. My gran (who I still...
Seems like most modern 'DH' cranks are going over to 4.5mm thick chainring tabs. Educate me RideMonkey:
1) Is it possible to run a middle ring and big ring on such cranks? Seems like you'd need a special big ring for it to sit the correct distance away from the middle ring, but I don't see...
Due to popular demand, I have had a bunch of my spacers machined up, and can now supply to anyone interested. These allow the use of a 10 speed Shimano derailer with a 9 speed Sram shifter. Now tested to work with any 9 speed Sram shifter and any 10 speed Shimano derailer EXCEPT XTR due to the...
As title. The user's manual makes reference to several specialist tools. Most of these look like they could be substituted for appropriately-sized sockets but it looks as though one needs to remove the star-ratchet, which seems like there's no getting around the need for the appropriate tool. I...
I have an old and basic Fox Float R that, by and large, does what I ask of it with minimal complaints. However, once a year, like clockwork, when I choose to go riding in cold (~ freezing) temperatures, an internal seal perishes and I end up with air mixed in with the damping oil. I'm not...
At the request of Mr Trumpore...
So Fraser throws out the comment:
Cue various comments:
etc etc
So, I, for one, would love to see the Freecaster coverage continue next year. Popular rumors (although none seemingly without bias) seem to be that this is a case of the UCI...
Any way to take this out? I realise that part of the appeal of the Code lever is that the bearings make this unnecessary, but it seems there must be a bushing or something in there that one could change out once needed? I always used to do this with my Hope brakes and it kept the levers feeling...
So apparently the shaft end of a Double Barrel shock uses a DU bush larger than the 1/2" usually used by Fox etc. Anyone any idea what size it is? Is it possible that this size of DU bush is common in other applications? Do motor bikes/ATVs use DU bushes in shocks that might be this size?
And...

Really? Didn't this used to be a pretty regular stop on the WC circuit?
OK, so apparently it's possible to unwind the contact adjuster too far on the Elixir CR lever. Apparently it's also possible to reassemble such that an o-ring gets kinked and renders the brake useless.
Avid claim the contact adjuster is non-user serviceable but, considering I've already taken...
So I prided myself in the fact that I couldn't fathom how the seemingly huge number of ham-fisted people managed to mess-up their maxles on the previous generation Boxxer, however, having just collected a new bike, running a DT 440 front hub and 2010 Boxxer, both new and parts I've not run...
In town for a conference next week. Seems rude not to bring the bike down and check out some of the trails I've heard so many good things about. Can bring DH or AM bike. Might drive down with truck. Might fly, depending on what locals suggest...
Guiding around Vancouver offered in return! :)...
It's obviously some kind of OEM rear hub. 150mm spacing. It came laced to a WTB SpeedDisc DH rim if it's of any help. As you can see, the circular spring that causes the pawls to return has broken. I'd like to try and get a replacement and be able to lace this up as a spare wheel if possible...
