    The DOC isn't slack. It's slack for a DJ bike, which it sounds like what you want. It's like 68-69. Rather than like 71 for more "real" dedicated DJ bikes.

    Build up an Evil DOC. Sick frame, only 6 lbs. Slack, low, and short in the back for a steel HT so you'll like the geo.

    Stay back and let the bike do its thing. And don't get bogged down. Go into the section with speed so you just skip over everything.

    I think he did a good job, but the concept is weird. I agree that the moto shock is overkill unless you weigh as much as a dirtbike and a regular person combined, and have the power output of a 50.

    Ultegra derailleur hitting the chainstay

    Specialized makes a little rubber knub that goes on the derailleur w/ 3M sticky tape and a zip tie. Your bike should have come with one of those. If it didn't you should check your LBS. Those things work just fine.

    SX Trail is what you need. The SC Trails aren't super hard-core. They're smooth, fast, and flowy with some jumps. You don't need a full on DH rig plus you want to be able to ride up that fireroad/gravel road to get to the singletrack. I rode my 04 SX there and the short travel felt fast and...
