I have no idea where I am
Aaaand...this is why I barely leave the house except to ride.
In a very similar boat. I only get outside once a week now. And only go into essential business like the grocery store. No to go food, no haircuts, no rub and tug, no home improvement stores, no convenience stores, nothing. Staying the fuck away from all mouth breathers as much as humanly possible.

Darwin's gonna Darwin......

Ingesting just two tablespoons can be fatal to small children, who may be tempted to drink sanitizers within reach. Smaller amounts can lead to permanent blindness.
To poison yourself with that stuff you gotta be doing something worthy of a total fucktard.

Nothing warms my heart like seeing another minority owned small business shuttered.
Thankfully the costco food court was exempt from shutdowns, effective lobbying apparently reduce the risk of covid.

Covid is going to take a lot of small businesses down, no doubt.
Those guys made a bad decision when we knew even less about the danger of the virus, and made it worse by digging in their heels. It's hard to feel sorry for them.

Upside is that family still has another location, so at least they still have a business to run.

Definitely a stupid decision but pulling their license for 30 days in retaliation was excessive. Had they declared it a political protest, which in essence it was, they’d been off the hook by current standards.

Yep, should have said it was a "place of worship"...

I'm starting to worry again.... cases are creeping back up here, apparently driven by people between the ages of 20 and 30. They're going to parties and bars, and not masking up or social distancing. The problem is, it's that age group that are camp councilors and who work in retail and service industry jobs... No more camps for my kids this summer...

Girlfriend got tested today. She's off work until results. Works for the provincial bootleggers. 9 positives and 28 preventive withdraws. Game is back on!

Yeah, kind of fuck those people. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. I'll happily avoid spending any money at their establishment here in town too, now that I'm aware they have one. Plenty of fantastic local places to support that actually are following state guidelines and not filled with yee-hadies.

Yeah, but then you can get your republican governor to pardon you...
Not in Colorado, you don't!

I'm trying to find the article I read earlier today, but apparently the lease for their Castle Rock location was over 30-days after their little stunt anyways. It seems a lot like they were trying to blow through their inventory, get their name out for their CoSprings location, and throw a little bit of grift on top by setting up a GoFundMe page (got $35k).

Well, that certainly adds an interesting spin.

Perhaps.
I don’t care enough to dig but I think I read lease was due to renew in July and given financial impacts of shutdown and maintaining personnel they decided to not renew.

I don’t support their actions but am sympathetic to their desperation, knowing about a dozen small business owners who’ve lost it all/suffered greatly through this.

It’s easy to dismiss this type of thing when one’s distanced from that unique reality. WFH (at full or marginally reduced income), paid furloughs or the, IMO, gratuitous extra UI coverage are a different scenario.

Cheating the system to survive isn't normally fair from the standpoint of fair competition.

But enabling the further spread of the disease fucks over everyone. They put their customers at risk, their employees. We could be in a much better situation in this country that allows businesses to operate, but it is the shitty selfish acts like this that make this pandemic so bad. They are the ones fucking over the other restaurant owners, the barbers and hairdressers, teachers, churches, child care, pretty much everyone. And even though a lot of people get to work from home, their industries are being affected. 10% of my WFH coworkers got laid off this year, we will probably lose another 20% by the end of the year. These are the people who go to restaurants an buy things from small businesses. Now they are just trying to figure out how to pay rent.

Of course the 150,000 dead people are irrelevant when we talk about matters of finance.

It isn't about breaking harmless rules, these are type of assholes that are making the pandemic so bad and screwing over everyone else. Fuck'em.

I must’ve missed the headlines re the devastating effect this establishment being open on Mother’s Day had.

Maybe because cases in Castle Rock dropped from 328 to 210 in the two weeks that followed.

Because testing is uniform and perfect and thus captures all cases, contact tracing is pervasive enough that we actually know of the common contacts for all our new cases, and people who dine at a populized-by-conservative-media restaurant have to come from the immediate local area. Right.

It is possible that not a single case of Covid was spread that day. But that kind of behavior is responsible for where we are today. I can fire a gun randomly in the middle of a city and not hit anyone, but I should expect consequences if I do.

Make sure you don't mask shame anyone from PA if it's a PA city you shoot them in.
