i don't like the rally version of gt4. the handling is just way too skittish because it is way too easy to drift. it seemed to be alot better in gt3.

1:14.924 is my PB at this time.
thanks for posting -- you set a goal for this session :D

Mine's Skyline GT-R N1 V-spec (R34)
1'15.982"

Amuse CarbonR (R34) '04
1'14.598"

that .598 came after many, many laps. the rwd Amuse is a MUCH, MUCH better handling car than the understeering awd Mine's model, for those who haven't tried it. it also brakes so much better that i had to mentally replot all my braking points.

I'm down with any of the S2000's, and that's a good course. Good call. Any restrictions?

I'll be buying the Amuse Skyline tonight to see if it handles any better than the one I used last night. Spinner, what kind of HP are you putting out?
Cool , lets say the Amuse S2000 street version , any power or drivetrain mods allowed , no NOS ...... BUT Sports soft tires only ! Lets get a little drift action happening :) The S2000s handle great but limiting the grip will throw a curve ball into the equation. No cutting the last corner either , not that it will save much time anyway.

Course: Deep forest normal.

My Amuse CarbonR is showing 874hp in the garage. Like Toshi said , being RWD makes it a lot better around corners. My best time at Laguna so far is 1:14.747. If I don't post again before the deadline , that will be my time for submission. Its looking close here , a few 1:14s being posted ! Cool !

excellent. i think i'm tired enough of laguna seca that i'll retire with my .598 and cede the victory to spinner, or anyone who can top him.

Well said, after using the AWD version it was a whole nother ball game with this car.

Of course you're still about two seconds fast than me right now. My best last night was 1'16.679, but I'll be putting in more laps tonight. How is your car set up?

You call the shots, it's your choice. Luckily this car is light so it should still handle well with Sport tires.

0/0/3 driving aids. camber in the -3.5/-2.8 range. race suspension 5 mm off the bumpstops, and something like 13.1 rate f/r.

Some fine tuning on the LSD made a difference to the Carbon GTR , not much , but it helped cornering a little. My settings there : 15 / 13 / 10

For the next challenge (just to clarify):

All power mods , drivetrain , suspension , brakes allowed

Sports soft tires only , no NOS , weight reduction or increase rigidity allowed.

sscccreeeeeeeccchhh. Get used to that sound !:)

Cheers

oh, just as a heads up, i'm going to make the arbitrary decision that this particular challenge series will end after #8. this is because my current points lead is nearly unassailable if i do this ;) and because i'll be on a road trip from june 16 through july 6.

i highly encourage you all to continue to post challenges in this thread, and i'll start a new series or continue whatever one you all start once i get back to civilization. when the 8th challenge expires i'll change the "current challenge" red text in the first post to point to the last post of this thread and instruct the reader to look there.

I chose n/a tuning instead of a turbo, was this a mistake?
I ran the tranny at 9

I know this thread is deep into the pursuit of grand touring, but anyone compete in Tourist Trophy? I've got about 96% of this game finished. I like it more than Gran Tourismo because it's more challenging in the sense that you actually crash and have to get back on your bike. Difficult to win if your eye-hand coordination sucks. Can't really ride walls, crap like that.

i can pretty much guarantee that the extra top end of a stage 4 turbo will win out over na in GT4, driveability in the real world be damned...

There I go being realistic again:clapping:
What suspension settings are you messing with Toshi?

lowering my suspension did bad things to my curb hitting ways ;)
It seems like increasing the camber compromised my traction too?

With those tires I'm thinking you need more camber to handle the corners better. That's just me though.

While I need to buy a new car and 'not' reduce the weight, I had the car set up pretty damn well. Healthy drop on it, I increased the spring rate a little and increased the camber a lot. Car was running pretty well.

so it turns out that there is no stage 4 option, only stage 3 turbo, and it's actually pretty driveable, in as much as a car with 450+ hp, rwd, and simulated soft street tires is.

:pirate2:

from my initial shakedown laps: suspension 12.2/13.1, 65/65, 8/8, 8/8, 4.0/3.1, 0/0, 6/6, driving aids 0/0/0, transmission at 9 (hitting the rev limiter a few times in 6th, maybe 10 would be better), and nothing really else to report. no illegal weight reduction, either ;)

1'20.568": 0'26.111", 0'57.123" splits.

So I bought a new car and didn't get any weight reduction.

My current time is 1:19.971. That's a pretty clean lap I think but it's difficult to tell because the car slides so much. All in all though I'm pretty pleased with that time.
