weight weenies relies on self test w/ accurate scale, even shimano history page as well as the retailers have that set pegged higher weight. Usually retailers and shimano don't put a higher weight on an item, it makes it less desireable if its too heavy.
Still an awesome crankset, I'd check your scale also.
Manu is right. The weight mentioned on the website is the triple chainring version "175 mm 22/32/44".

Here's my set-up. All these weigths are cheked by myself, except a few parts which are not arrived yet (those with the *).

Frame : Big Hit expert 2004 with OEM headset and seat clamp= 4063g
Shock : Manitou swnger SPV 4ways TFtuned 8.75 x 2.75" + steel spring 450lbs (612g) = 1135g
*Fork : Rock Shox Boxxer race = 3180g
Front tire : Michelin COMP 16 2.5 : 1195g
Rear tire : Maxxis High Roller 24*2.5 50a = 1130g
Rear tube: Nokian dh 24inch= 298g
*Front wheel: EX823 2004 (include FORE's) + Hope Bulb + DT comp + alloy nipples = 640+214+196 +11= 1061g
Rear wheel: atomlab dhr + hope xc + dt champion + pro lock brass nipples = 1320g
Cassette: Shimano Ultegra 12/27 9s = 230gr
Shifter:SRAM trigger x.9 = 133gr
Rear mechs: SRAM X.9 2005 = 234g
Chain: SRAM PC99 + power link : 297g
Cable + Gaine 89g
Crankset : Shimano XT hollowtech 2 = 696g
Chain ring: Shimano XT 44t = 70g
Chain guide : MRP WC2 iscg : with Risse roller and drilled inner plate = 482
Grip: ODI lock on Ruffian = 102g
Pedals: 24 Toaster (heavy but so fat and grippy)= 674g
Seatpost: Specialized = 261g
Saddle: Tioga Multi Control II = 216g my experience with the Selle Italia SLR
Stem: Woodman Rockster S = 247g
*Handlebar : Easton EA70 low riser = 244g
Head lock Amoeba = 65g
Front brake: Hayes HFX Mag = 362g
Rear brake : Hayes HFX9 = 389g
Disc 8" (366) / bolts (28) = 394g

Total= 18.730g | 41.29 lbs

Not too bad for the price. With Ti spring, Xpédo MX3 pedals, ghetto tubeless and some carbon parts, the sub40 is easly accessible I think.

No way, boxxers are lighter than those, I have a setta italia seat, x-4 thomson, pro taper bar magnesium peddal and 2.35 maxxis minions and still not that light.
My deemax are lighter than the dh30's I know because I just sold them.
Plus I have deemax on king hubs (plus stans no tubes) which is lighter than the deemax.
I'll have to weigh mine, I have a ton of light weight parts and 39.3 is the lightest I can seem to get figured.

i dont know if anybody has responed to this or not but the VP and the V10 weigh the same. the big differences between the two is the v10 has more travel and the vp can have a front der.
according to the sc web site, the vpfree is 9.4 lbs and the v10 is 10.7 both with dhx shoxs. sounds about right to me.

I know someone that got their 222 to about 35lbs which is too light IMO. I like to feel like I have something under me. 40-42 lbs is perfect. . . .

Indeed mono is 41lbs, There is no way I could cut 10lbs of it,
well maybe if I left the fork off, and the back wheel
Hard to ride that way, I'd think.

Also, bike below is somewhere between 35-36 pounds with pedals on it and 2006 e13 stuff, fox 40 etc.

yeah that was my point, you couldnt build a rideable mono at that weight, mines 41lb, small frame ti springs etc, should drop under 40 when I get rid of the **** rims.

That orange is pretty sweet tho.

you could also drop damn near a pound by going with some holzfellars or alot of ppl are looking to Xt cranks on DH bikes. the saints are boat anchors.

That's a pretty sweet stock setup. Pretty much identical to our team stuff, minus the guide and frame.

How is the reliability with the chain dog/cat/rollercoaster deal? You did run them last year right? Whenever I see those and or the LG1, i remember Heikki proto testing it at Bromont and utterly obliterating the entire setup on rocks.

those the chainguide on the commencal works like rear derreileur in terms of tensioning the chain..!?!?

looks a little expose but also makes perfect sense, specially if you were running two chainrings or at least a really wide spread gear cluster.

My Demo 8 is 41.25, just weighed it today on a digi. With a fork and ti spring it should be down in the 39 range.
