MOAR snow. Buddy and I both went swimming in it a few times. Falling on your back, with head pointed downhill in three feet of snow is tough stuff, I tell ya.

"Help, I've fallen and I can't get up."

Wife had to come and rescue me as I couldn't move the bike up and out of the trench to free myself.

Too much snow here to ride bikes. The Nordic skiing on the other hand, is excellent:

I almost killed a buddy yesterday. I took him out on some "back country" trails (i.e. ungroomed single track). He used to live in Nunavut and would ski out in the tundra. I assumed he was a strong skiier (especially since he was planning to ski the Northwest passage last March), but it turns out he's never skiied in this sort of snow/terrain. Also turns out there's a lot to know about skiing in this sort of terrain... But he's a tough bugger and soldiered through. He even finished with an (almost) smile! Conditions were glorious though, so I'm sure that helped.

At least you didn't do what I did a bunch of times on Saturday- stop, put feet down and immediately sink down just the right amount to squash the berries on the top tube.
:butcher:
No berries were harmed, but I was definitely stuck without assistance. My buried left foot wasn't able to push me up. Right leg stuck up over the top tube was supporting my weight and stopping me sinking more and because of the weight on the bike I couldn't move it on my own to get out of my predicament :D

In the bathroom, fighting a battle
That takes some quality suspension to get through without arm pump?
Who said anything about not having arm pump? Did an out and back ride, definitely helped that I went up this section before going back down and kind of spotted the lines. What really would have helped is going faster, but something about being solo, on a trail I'd never ridden way away from any popular tails, in a half shell and leaving my knee pads in the truck inspired caution/riding like a sissy.

I have no doubt the TP would handle it at mach-chicken, there's a handful of similar rock gardens around here, but you have to haul ass, commit, and know exactly where you want your tires to go, or it hurts, a lot.

NORCAL is the hizzle
Man you snow guys have a level of commitment that is somewhere between impressive and seriously questionable. Although, glacier ice for your scotch sounds like it would almost be worth it. :clapping:

Pic from a quick loop at dusk last night in Marin county. (That's Mt. Tam over there.) Gorgeous evening, 65 degrees or so.

Thanks for rubbing it in. We're rapidly entering the mud season when all trails are closed... to bikes. Only bikes.

@CBJ so many rhodo tunnels up there! it's awesome even in the winter because they stay green, but even better around may/june. here's from a hike a bit higher up last month:
Reminds me a bit of parts of laurel mountain, pa and the riding in that neck of the woods... the former speedgoat stomping grounds.
