DHX 3.0 > VIVID 5.1
Hi guys,
Walked through whole thread but could not find the answer.
Here is the question that I trust you know the answer - I own Sunday Team 2008. It has DHX 3.0 which I want to change for Vivid 5.1.
I have been told that I need to get the correct spacers, ie., 30mm x 10mm spacers. Surfed on the internet but could not find those.
Does anybody know where I can buy those? And, do I need to change something else to get Vivid fitted?

^^^Loctite 609 or 680 should do the trick. They're both design for fitting bearings to worn/sloppy bores.

Anodizing doesn't open up the bores, but blasting or stripping takes the paint out of the seats (which helps make up the tolerences). Some things won't be dead tight in a raw frame.
As suggested already though, loctite 609/680 cures all. Clean all surfaces before application with methylated spirits (or similar), be generous with the stuff, and make sure after you've put the frame together you leave it to cure for 24-48 hours without touching it.
After that it's good for years.

Haha, I'm guessing you're an Aussie with the Bunnings comment... They might have it, but I know that CBC Bearings will have it for sure. 609 is available in 10mL bottles but 680 is only available in bigger bottles and is super expensive. 609 should do the job though.

I use 680 on a loose bearing bore on my frame (a Turner) and it's holding on really well. Last time I took it apart it took a good beating to get the bearing out.
Put the Loctite mostly on the inside of the bore (ID and shoulder on which the bearing sits) then smear a little around the OD of the bearing. Press it all together, torque to the correct specs then wipe away the excess and let your bike sit for 24-48hrs to let it all cure. Should be sweet.

Ok, so I have a question. I just picked up a 2006 WC and I was wondering if the linkages will need to be replaced and what I will need to get in order to replace them as I have heard this is a common problem. If someone could shed some light on this it would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Is there something wrong with your linkage's or are you just looking to upgrade? Replacement links run $100 and can be ordered directly through us, 1-800-645-5477 option 3. 08 Linkage upgrade kits are currently out of stock. We ran out of upper links and are putting in an order for more. When they are back in stock they run $275 and that includes upper and lower links, pivot axles, bearings, bolts, washers, and 10mm shock pins.

I haven't received the bike yet so I have yet to really get a change to look at it. I am going to most likely just order a spare set as I hear the 2006 linkage design commonly sucked. Anyways I will keep the number iclose and give you a call in a bit. Any idea when the stock will come in?
I mentioned this a page ago when the topic of the F7 linkages being out of stock came up...
Last time I was at Fluidride (in seattle) they had a set of F7 linkages (the newest design w/o the vivid cut).....certainly worth an e-mail to check.

Do you know where I can find a rear triangle for my Sunday? Scratched, dented (not badly), painted , not painted, etc. BUT in good working condition...tried at IH, but they're currently OOS.
Maybe you have or know a friend of a friend that has one and doesn't use it...i would like to buy it.

I've been trying to shave off some weight on my new sunday WC and was thinking about get a FOX DHX 5 AIR... What u guys think? I don't care bout that "butter" fell like a regular spring, but i do care bout weight tho... Is this air shock good on a Sunday?

I dented the down tube on my 07 Sunday last weekend. Does anyone have experience riding dented frames? Or know how much a new front triangle costs? Any info or experience would be apprieciated.

I've seen it done, and the riders (who are racers) seemed to like it.
My personal experience on the DHX Air would say to not do it. I think they don't offer enough mid-stroke compression dampening and heat up quickly and loose rebound dampening (specifically speaking to very rough trails that are lift assisted). I am also on the heavy side at 190lbs.
But don't let that stop you. Do it and let us know how it worked for you!
I had a team mate that had a dent similar to yours. He kept riding the frame. I don't think there's anything you can do for it. Probably not a warranty issue, either. Since it seems to be the fault of the rider, not the frame or manufacturing issue. If IH says you can still ride it, go for it.
I'm not looking for warranty, its completely my fault. I'm just wondering what IH's crash replacement policy is like. Most companies will give you a deal on frame parts if you wreck them.
I had a dent similar to that but right under the headtube gusset. Ironhorse set me up with a crash replacement on the front triangle or the entire frame - I decided to get the entire new frame since it wasnt that much more for a totally new frame.
Does anyone actually know what hubs are on the 08 teams? all the IH website (which could really do with some updating, last thing is from 19th May!) says is that they are alloy sealed bearing hubs..

Always a good thing to do! Strip down all bolts and get some white grease on them.
As for the bearings itself you should get some "Phill Woods" blue grease on them.
Red Loctite is a good idea as well. DO NOT use Green Loctite, never! The green stuff is permanent strength.
I will have a rear triangle, I dented the down tube on my front trianlge pretty bad. They are also OOS on those and so I'll either be buying a complete new frame or looking at something else.
I'll be back home in a week or so and send you some pics.

Team has Juicy 3 brakes!! and X5/X7 shifting!! and the heavier FSA Moto cranks.
WC has a number of notable sub par items (not good choices for racing WRT weight), old style heavy Funn direct mount stem, heavy funn v3 post, heavy SRAM DH cassette, and heavy Code brakes.
Wonder what pricing will be like.

Hey guys, my lower shock bushing has got play in it, only slightly when the bike is lifted but still very annoying as I like my bike perfect.. was wondering where the best place to get new ones in the UK is going to be? Many thanks, oh and its an 06 W/C.
Ok, so I just got a used 06' WC from this guy who didn't know the value of this bike. I am doing a few overhauls to make sure this bike lasts me a while, but I wanted to see a few things.
In shipping the rear axle bolt was lost: I have called IH numerous time and no dice with getting them, does anyone know where I would be able to get this part besides IH?
I don't know the whole story about the linkage, but what was the deal with the 06' linkage? I have heard that they are bad, but I want to make sure of this before I go drop dough on buying a new one.

What do you mean "rear axle bolt"? Did you lose the axle or just one of the pinch bolts?
Good luck if it was the axle and IH does not have any.... as it is a proprietary part. My only thought would be to contact some specialty shops that did a lot of 'sunday' business...go-ride, fluidride, the path (IIRC)....or possibly performance.
or the one and only current dealer RS cycles.....
Other than that, you will need to get the specs for one and get one turned.

Undersized reducers or just poor tollerance in the shock mount parts...etc. The shim in the lower bearing seemed to prove difficult for some as well, but that ban be simply retrofitted with the new/current extended race bearing from enduro.

Whoever you spoke with must not of understood what you were refering to. Did you refrence the Sunday frame diagram, http://www.ironhorsebikes.com/bikes/sunday/sunday_frame.pdf? We do have the axles and the pinch bolts in stock. The axles run $19.99 and the pinch bolt setup, which includes both bolts and the piece they thread into, run $4.99.
I usually end up just contacting the shock dealer and ordering it directly through them. I have a set of the DHX bushings coming to me as we speak.
