FOR REALS why are there so many different patterns for bottom brackets?Ordered a shimano XT hollowtech II BB thinking, well, it's 24mm, I have the tool, what could possibly go wrong?
Yep, they changed the standard, new tool required
unless they've changed it for XT, that was just for XTR / DuraAce. something something smaller bearings something something less weight.FOR REALS why are there so many different patterns for bottom brackets?
I don't even know why I have it, but the best is this thing - https://www.amazon.ca/Shimano-TL-FC24-Bracket-adaptor-SM-BB9000/dp/B00C4YZY60
A tool to fit inside of another tool. wtf why not just make them the damn same?
If that's true than my "new tool" is a pair of channel locks.Ordered a shimano XT hollowtech II BB thinking, well, it's 24mm, I have the tool, what could possibly go wrong?

The XTR (39 mm) and new XT (41 mm) ones are different. Old BB diameter was 44 mm. So 3 different ones needed.the ones i have came with XTR bb's. eventually i'll get a nice socket version.
Oh lordy. The XTR (39 mm) and new XT (41 mm) ones are different. Old BB diameter was 44 mm. So 3 different ones needed.
But then you have to ride...you know...a pressfit BB.press-fit doesn't require a new tool
Yeah I know, it's horrible, a disgrace to humankind...then you have to ride...you know...a pressfit BB.
Same here for CB products, but I don't own anything pressfit unless you count a Spanish BB on a DJ bike.i've had good luck with the one bike i own that's pressfit. i've also had good luck with crank bros components.
