    Biking shorts! Need Help!!

I know they are expensive -- but for full spandex, go with Castelli, the Donna cut (I think). I have had two pairs for five years and they are awesome! Terry also makes nice spandex shorts. I like the Zoic baggies -- again had those for probably four years and they are still going strong.

Man tells women to stop being a btch

As my bf says, I have the ability to get dirty and muddy while riding and be a girl -- you can be both if you want, and if you don't that is fine too. When I do have to wear heels (i.e. bridesmaid, etc.), I pay no more than 20 dollars for the shoes, as they will probably be only worn once.

How do you deal with pain?

When I broke my femur in Oct. 2004 - I immediately got sleeping pills. I took them for three months because I could not sleep due to the extreme pain. My bf would massage my back at times which really helped. The first two weeks were the worst because I had a blood clot and was restricted to my...

    Help

I agree with everyone else -- patience is key. I raced cross country before downhill, and it took me a long time to learn how to really ride like a downhiller. When I started downhilling, my bf had been racing for over 10 years as an expert and I was really intimidated -- he just made everything...

    So, anyone lost their luggage?

I went to the airport again this morning and picked up my big bag -- bike shoes, etc. I am still waiting for the other bag -- first it was to be delivered at 8, then 12 and now hopefully before 4, luckily the girl I am staying with is going to wait for them, so I can go meet the trainer today...

    So, anyone lost their luggage?

Ok, so I went out to Oakland to work with a cycling trainer -- I am the girl who broke her femur real bad at Pkill in 2004. I arrived today. Were my bags there? No way! (United Airlines by the way)They said that I had to come back later and pick them up -- after an argument, I said fine... sure...

    temporary handicap tag?

When I broke my femur last year, I asked my doctor and he said sure. I got a doctor's note and then went to the DMV and got a 6 month pass. This was in CT -- it might be different in other states. It made such a difference during the holiday season!!

    Anybody had ITB release surgery?

So I just got back from surgery -- still kinda high on pain killers, but it went very well. They took out two of my screws and cut out a portion of the ITB. The screws were bigger than I thought they were -- 34 mm. I will update later and tell ya all how it goes... Should be back to training in...

    Anybody had ITB release surgery?

Just wondering if anybody had ITB release surgery -- I am going in on Thursday morning and am not sure what to really expect... They are also taking the screws out of my femur (2 out of 3)...(I broke my femur at Platty last year.) I have had ITB problems for three years and have tried...

    Helmet Help

I need some helmet advice. My father has a very large head - about 25 1/4 inches around. He is looking at the Louis Garneau line and the Tirreno line for a new helmet. The largest they run is 24 1/2. Any suggestions?

    Mt Snow, decent for DH?

Honestly -- Mt. Snow is only good for xc racing when you go up and visit. My bf has raced there for years, but never rides there if there isn't any race. They are having a dh series this summer, so I would definitely check that out. It is on the sport/beg. course. dhdracesite.com has full race...

    Super D Racing questions

The Mount Snow course starts near the sport/beg. downhill and is very wide open and fast... there are three significant uphills (two in the middle) and then a tight single track towards the end which is pretty rocky by super d standards. It ends on the short track course, which has the last...

Why collegiate cycling is great. Reason # 512

That is a girl from BC Cycling -- oh and by the way she has a serious boyfriend. She is not only super nice, but a great racer... unfortunately I only got to be her teammate for a year before I graduated.

    These three riders influenced me.....

I have to say Alison Dunlap, as I started out as a cross country racer and still race it from time to time -- Then Marla, who gave me encouraging words during my injury and who is an awesome all around rider and then, well I have to be corny and say my boyfriend Repack -- I could not be where I...

    Your worst injury

October 9. 2004 -- Hit a tree trying to go hard right down a chute at Plattekill in NY, tapped the brake as I tried to turn and prevent it and went over the handlebars... Ended up with a spiral fracture of my left femur. I was flown in a helicopter to Cooperstown Medical Center and given...

    teaching

I totally agree -- to let her learn at her own pace and when she has a question, she will ask you.... My boyfriend had a few years advantage over me in terms of my riding ability. I loved that he would help me, but at the same time, I wished at times he would just let me ride and figure it out...

    XC Racing: CamelBak or bottles?

Some bikes do not fit bottles -- My s-works epic does not fit a bottle well at all and I need to use a camelback. I hate reaching around my jersey during a race to get a waterbottle. I have lost dozens of bottles during races before I used a camelback due to some awesome technical trails...

Do your feet hurt after a ride?

The same thing happens to me all the time... My podiatrist says that the plantar faciitis - (the muscle on the bottom of your foot) gets very tight with any athletic activity and you need to stretch it by doing the classic calf stretch and rubbing your feet.Don't forget to ice. Also, it might...
